WHAT'S KINO ?

It's a Canadian concept created in 1999 in Montreal. The main idea is «to do it well with nothing, do better with a little, but to do it now.»

WHAT'S A KINO KABARET ?

The idea is to make short movies in 48 or 72 h with what's is there, a little or no money, a lot of resourcefulness, and among all of it in melting everyone's experiences.

WHAT'S THE AIM OF A KINO KABARET ?

To learn or perfect techniques, meet people from everywhere, from every profession or passion, and coming from the whole of Europe.

WHY KINO IN CAEN

Because Caen is a city that still evolving in art. While in 1999 Montreal was building up its Kino, Caen created a "forum vidéo" -free screen of monthly presentations of video creations. Even though the idea stayed regional, the idea was the same. It seems then logical to create, here, a new crew.

WHO'S BEHIND THE PROJECT ?

The project is carried by "les Films du Cartel", an association in the place since almost 6 years and different members have already participated in Kino all around Europe. The most frequented by the Caennais being the Off-Court Festival of Trouville. In fact, those two cities situated in Calvados, are making it the second region after Montreal/Quebec to have two Kino Teams 50 kilometres apart.
